- 3 tbsp beef drippings or unsalted butter
- 3 tbsp plain flour
- 480 ml beef stock
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 0.5 tsp black pepper
- 0.5 tsp onion powder
Steps
- 1Heat drippings or butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
- 2Whisk in flour and cook, stirring constantly, for 2 minutes until the roux turns a light golden-brown colour.
- 3Gradually pour in the beef stock while whisking to prevent lumps.
- 4Add Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- 5Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened to your desired consistency. Season to taste.
